Microbiome Explorer uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing, which reads the DNA of your entire gut ecosystem rather than looking for a limited set of pre-selected microbes. It identifies bacteria, fungi and protists to species level, and shows what your microbes are capable of doing, such as producing butyrate and other compounds that support gut and immune health.
Essentials reports on 17 microbiome markers, including diversity, key beneficial species and 28,000+ microbes.

Extended includes everything in Essentials (17 microbiome markers, 28,000+ microbes), plus 7 gut physiology markers: calprotectin, lactoferrin, secretory IgA, pancreatic elastase, zonulin family peptides, faecal occult blood and pH. These give insight into inflammation, gut barrier, immune and digestive function.

How it works
From booking to your personalised plan, here's what to expect.

Select the Essentials, Extended or Comprehensive package and complete the short intake form at checkout. Not sure which is right for you? Book a free 15-minute discovery call first.

Your Microba Microbiome Explorer kit is sent to your door. Once it's on its way, Gabriella will call you to book your 75-minute consultation for when your results are ready.

Follow the simple instructions in your kit to collect a small stool sample, then return it to Microba's laboratory as directed.

Your sample is analysed using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Results are usually ready around 2–3 weeks after the lab receives your sample, and Gabriella reviews them in detail before your consultation.

We go through your results together in a full new client consultation, covering your microbiome findings and your current health concerns. You'll leave with a personalised treatment plan including dietary, lifestyle, nutritional and herbal advice. Consultations are held online.

Results are usually ready around 2–3 weeks after the laboratory receives your sample. Gabriella will call you once your kit is sent to book your consultation for when your results are in.

No. Microba microbiome testing is practitioner-only, so each test is offered as part of a package that includes your consultation, full results interpretation and treatment plan. This ensures your results are explained in the context of your health history.
