About the test
Microbiome Explorer uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing, which reads the DNA of your entire gut ecosystem rather than looking for a limited set of pre-selected microbes. It identifies bacteria, fungi and protists to species level, and shows what your microbes are capable of doing, such as producing butyrate and other compounds that support gut and immune health.
Extended includes everything in Essentials (17 microbiome markers, 28,000+ microbes), plus 7 gut physiology markers: calprotectin, lactoferrin, secretory IgA, pancreatic elastase, zonulin family peptides, faecal occult blood and pH. These give insight into inflammation, gut barrier, immune and digestive function.
