About the test
Microbiome Explorer uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing, which reads the DNA of your entire gut ecosystem rather than looking for a limited set of pre-selected microbes. It identifies bacteria, fungi and protists to species level, and shows what your microbes are capable of doing, such as producing butyrate and other compounds that support gut and immune health.
Comprehensive includes everything in Extended (17 microbiome markers and 7 gut physiology markers), plus screening for 19 pathogens and parasites, including Giardia, Salmonella, Clostridioides difficile and toxin-producing E. coli.
Best for: persistent or complex gut symptoms, or when an infection or parasite is suspected.
